¡Mi nueva novela «Manual de supervivencia para conejos» ya está lista para su publicación! Espero poder dar más detalles muy pronto. Mientras tanto, aquí os dejo su prólogo EN INGLÉS. Suena bien, ¿verdad?
«They say that many people are able to vividly recall the most important moments of their lives when they are about to die. Unlike them, on that ill-fated night my mind had gone completely blank. Isolated in a prison cell and only a few hours away from facing the firing squad, nothing mattered anymore.
Lying on the cot, I could feel my body serving as the battleground for a brutal war between squadrons of spiders, lice, and bedbugs. I let them have their way without rebelling against their presence, thinking that at least they would manage to gain something from my misfortune. I tried to face the situation with the greatest dignity the circumstances allowed. My final longing was that my elderly parents and the woman I loved would remember me with affection and pride. My conscience only agreed to grant me a brief respite when I managed to drive away most of the rage and hatred that were eating me up inside.
In times when violence and terror roamed freely, at least I had the consolation of having stood up to most of the fools and powerful men who crossed my path, always striving to keep my head held high, my gaze fixed forward, and my heart strong. On the other hand, it was only fair to admit that such a temperament had cost me more than one bitter setback, including the unfortunate chain of events that had ended with my bones in that dark dungeon.
I took a deep breath and drew on the cigarette that a compassionate guard had slipped to me, already lit, through the bars. Through the small barred window, I gazed at the moon, bright and immense in a splendid Andalusian summer night. I did not even shed a tear when I realized it was the last time I would ever enjoy that starry sky. And only then did I manage to let my memories fly free.»
